There are many options for buying LED smart light bulb, but matching LED dimmers are hard to pick. Many users will be confident that the dimmers with traditional incandescent lamps can be used. The most common ones in the market are thyristor dimmers, which are divided into DC and AC. They are very useful for incandescent lamps.
Choosing the right color temperature, the appropriate lumen level, and the appropriate beam angle of the LED light is the requirement for dimming. Unlike the incandescent mode of ordinary incandescent lamps, dimming LED bulbs with thyristors can be successful, but in most cases many problems can occur.
The most problematic is the buzzing or stroking of the squeak. Ordinary incandescent lamps only need to regulate the voltage to adjust the brightness and darkness, but for LED lights, it may not work. We did the experiment and there are four cases:
1. Can’t open at all, it doesn’t shine at all!
2. It can only be lit with 100% illumination.
3. It works fine but the buzzing sound is very loud.
4. A strobe will occur when adjusting to a certain brightness.
During the test, sometimes the LED is dimmed to a certain limit and then it can be used normally. The reason we judge that it is not bright many times is that the applied voltage of the dimmer is too small to reach the required voltage.
The circuit inside the LED is much more complicated than the incandescent lamp. The real LED dimmer is not just the voltage adjustment. There are three principles of the LED dimmer:
1. Wave width control dimming: digitize the power square wave and control the duty cycle of the square wave to achieve the purpose of controlling the current.
2. Constant current power regulation: The current can be easily adjusted by analog linear technology.
3. Group control: group multiple LEDs and adjust them with a simple grouper.
Pay attention to strobe:
The stroboscopic situation is the most common, for the following reasons: The adjustable resistor itself is not a very reliable component, often because of the entry of dust or the manufacturing process is not tight, there will be an instantaneous gap failure when operating the adjustable resistor, then the light source It will flash. Therefore, high-quality adjustable resistors are required, or linear techniques are used to regulate current rather than voltage.
In fact, the internal driving function of the LED itself can easily adjust the brightness and darkness, but most LED manufacturers have removed this function to save costs. Whether the LED light can be dimmed or not will usually be marked on the box. If not marked, please use the dimming function with caution or use a dedicated LED dimmer.
Dimming will reduce life:
To be reminded, dimming is easy to reduce the life of the bulb, why? A simple dimming method: we divide a second into 1000 copies, each one is 1 millisecond, and then through the control chip, let the LED light work for 7 milliseconds and extinguish for 3 milliseconds, so that it only works in one second. 0.7 seconds, but because the flashing interval is very fast, we can’t find out that its brightness is flickering, only its brightness is darkened, which is 0.7 times of the original, thus achieving the dimming effect. In the same way, we can achieve any brightness such as 50% brightness, 32% brightness. In this way to flash, not bad before you blame!
